4 Months Old & a New Cousin!!!
Well, once it again, it has been some time since my last post. There are never enough hours in the day...time just seems to fly each and every day.
We'll start this post with the introduction of Avery Joyce Boyer who was born on May 12th, weighing in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. She looks just like her sister did at birth --who couldn't remember the tons of hair! The Wheelers are very anxious to get home this summer to meet her! Anne told Lauren last night that Emily, Matt and Elijah called to say that they loved her and Avery. Lauren didn't quite understand how we could love Avery if we had never met her. :-) Lauren is something else -- so on top of things! Her adjustment to a new baby sister has gone very smoothly!
The new mommy of "2" -- I think she looks outstanding for just giving birth!
Isn't this sweet! A kiss from the big sister. Again -- how about that hair?!?!

Isn't this sweet! A kiss from the big sister. Again -- how about that hair?!?! Avery is now just over 2 weeks and already weighs 9 pounds -- she's a good baby and a good eater!
And now for our FOUR month old...can you believe Elijah is already 4 months old?! I really would like time to just slow down for awhile. I like it when he changes and progresses and reaches another milestone but at the same time I don't want him growing too quickly -- he really won't be a baby long! His doctor's appointment last week went well. He's a healthy boy who barely fussed even when getting his shots. He weighed in at 15 pounds, 11 ounces (75th percentile), measured 26 inches (75th percentile) and his head circumference was also the 75th percentile. You could say he's growing well and a little above average! He had a bit of a fever from his shots the very next day but it didn't even last 24 hours. Teething is his main activity right now -- EVERYTHING goes straight to his mouth and if he doesn't have anything, his hands are what get gnawed on -- he even has marks from biting himself. He is so active and alert these days -- he doesn't like missing anything. He goes after anything you put in front of him with his hands and has found his feet. He is developing a personality already. It cracks me up when he gets frustrated with his toys that won't go in his mouth just the way he wants them to. And the fish that hang from his playmat that are attached and won't pull down...boy does he know how to screech when he is frustrated! He's jabbering more and more. And continues to make us smile on an hourly basis. (And just in case anyone is wondering...NO he still isn't sleeping through the night. LOL) Elijah continues to be our greatest blessing and I thank God every day for allowing him to be a part of my life.

A Minnesota Gopher!? An Iowa Hawkeye? A North Carolina Tarheel? This poor boy is going to be confused on who he should be cheering for! :-)

Miss Janet and family are truly a blessing for Elijah (and us). Elijah absolutely loves the Nelms and we feel so lucky to know that he is loved and well taken care of!

My First Mother's Day...
What a wonderful day! How wonderful to be a mother! You never know the joy until it happens! I'm so lucky to be a mom especially to such a wonderful little boy!
We went to Medoc Mountain State Park for a picnic this afternoon. It was a GORGEOUS day! Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect!
What an absolute sweetheart! I so enjoyed spending the day with him! On Thursday I got him to laugh for the first time...it was so awesome...he's a tad ticklish but just in the right spot.
Trying out the bumbo...probably not quite ready but he can hold his own. His first basketball (a rattle)! 
Dad dressed me for Mother's Day...
The big news of the week...my two front teeth!

Going out for a weekend latte, walk, and farmer's market trip.
My first birthday party...let's just say I wasn't the "life" of the party.... I did eventually wake up and join the fun.

A TOOTH!!
Can you believe it! Ah, the joys of teething! At least the new tooth explains his odd behaviors as of late. It is amazing how fast he is growing and changing!

Missing Grandma!
Grandma Wheeler headed back to Iowa yesterday. It was a sad good-bye and we already miss her! We were so fortunate that she was able to spend 3 weeks with us. Elijah is so lucky to be so loved. We all felt her love -- she took great care of us all! Thanks, Meg, for being here, for all that you did, for loving us and our little boy, and for being you!
Elijah is getting strong! On his back, he scoots up, pushing with his feet. On his tummy and back he turns himself 90 degrees.
EJ loves putting his hands in his mouth and is now starting to put anything he can get his hands on in his mouth!
Such concentration...he is really going after things these days! He went after daddy's face in bed yesterday morning.
Today was the first day I'd seen EJ bat at the fish and mirror on his playmate...he can't quite grab them but he definitely was having fun today making them move!
Grandma took this picture earlier in the week...Elijah surprised her by popping up on of the boxes!
Isn't this bib just precious! Ms. Martha Proctor had it made for Elijah!

Grandma Bailey
Well, it has been another sad week for our family. My other grandma passed away on Tuesday. Fortunately we were able to see her our last trip home (picture in last post). She was 93 years old. She was a wonderful grandmother in so many ways. She and grandpa never missed a thing that I did growing up! I have so many wonderful memories of my times with her and grandpa. She will be missed greatly!
